This former Boston Bruins forward is performing well in his new role.

The Hockey News Big Show - Jeremy Swayman Contract

Right before the start of the 2024-25 season, former Boston Bruins forward Nick Foligno was named the new captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. This move was not particularly surprising, as he was an excellent leader in Chicago's room during his first campaign with the club.

Foligno has had a nice start to this season as the Blackhawks' captain, as he has two goals and 18 hits in just four games. Overall, he has provided Chicago with some scoring and has been impactful with his physical style of play. Now, his goal from here will be to build off it.

However, besides starting the season off on the right foot, Foligno has also continued to be impactful as a good mentor. With the Blackhawks rebuilding, having an 18-year NHL veteran known for his leadership skills as their captain should help them greatly. This is especially so when it comes to rising superstar Connor Bedard.

Foligno also has a two-year extension that kicks in next season. With this, he will now have this major role for a while as the Blackhawks look to become competitive again. From here, it will be fascinating to see how he performs as the club's captain, but he is surely off to a nice start.
