During this past off-season, the Buffalo Sabres acquired Beck Malenstyn from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a second-round pick. This was after the 26-year-old winger broke out with the Capitals this past season, recording new career highs with six goals, 15 assists, 21 points, and 241 hits.

Malenstyn's start with the Sabres was very quiet, as he had zero points in his first six games with the team. However, he certainly changed that in the Sabres' latest matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, as he had his first big moment with the club.

Malenstyn scored his first goal as a Sabre against the Blackhawks. The 6-foot-3 winger had good positioning in front of the Blackhawks' net and tipped Connor Clifton's shot past Arvid Soderblom.

Seeing Malenstyn break the ice and get his first goal as a Sabre is huge. It will be fascinating to see how well he builds off it from here. If he takes that next step offensively and maintains his immensely physical style of play, he could become a big part of Buffalo's forward group.
