Aleksi Heimosalmi remains in the Hurricanes’ pipeline as the 2021 second-round pick secures a two-way deal.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Finnish blueliner Aleksi Heimosalmi to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

Heimosalmi, 23, finished his second season in North America this year, appearing in 52 games with the Chicago Wolves.

In that span, Heimosalmi had four goals and 17 points, adding another goal and an assist in seven postseason games.

The deal will pay the 2021 second round pick $850,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level.
