The Vancouver Canucks could look to trade RFA defenseman Filip Hronek at the NHL Draft if the two sides can't come together for a contract.

Satiar Shah went on Canucks Central and discussed the possibility of a trade.

"I'm not going to be as forceful as saying he's guaranteed to be traded by the draft if he doesn't sign, but I'd say there's a really good chance that a trade happens at the draft if he doesn't sign an extension," Shah said.

Hronek started the season on a tear but struggled during the second half and only scored two points in the postseason. While paired as the No. 2 d-man with Quinn Hughes, the price for a contract extension is likely higher than what the Canucks can afford.

The Canucks have a lot of pending free agents and will need to make decisions on who to keep and who to let walk. Nikita Zadorov and Tyler Myers are UFAs, and decisions must be made.

A Hronek trade could help the Canucks gain more draft capital, something they could use more of. Their first pick in the 2024 NHL Draft isn't until the third round.

Rumors of an Elias Pettersson trade were floated around before he signed his extension.

The offseason rumors are in full effect, and the Canucks could have a very busy summer.
