One of Mathis Langevin's best-ever QMJHL performances gives Rimouski a statement win.

The first Friday of December saw five games take place across the QMJHL, including more 55 Cup action. But one outstanding performance took the spotlight.

Sometimes, to pull an upset, you need a heroic performance from one player.

For Rimouski on Friday, it was Mathis Langevin who stepped up to the plate against the high-powered Blainvile-Boisbriand Armada.

The barrage started early, with the Armada firing 21 shots towards Langevin's goal in the first period alone (for reference, Rimouski took 21 shots total all game). It took until just 35 seconds remaining in the first for a shorthanded Justin Carbonneau goal to finally beat the Océanic goaltender.

The second period saw a similar shot disrepancy, with the Armada holding a 17-5 edge in shots during the middle frame. A power-play marker from the St. Louis Blues star prospect Carbonneau doubled the advantage for the home side halfway through the period, and it seemed almost inevitable the game would break open from there.

But, it didn't. Langevin kept making stops, and Alex Masse responded with just his second career QMJHL goal, halving the deficit heading into the third. While the Armada still held a 13-7 edge in shots during the third, it was Liam Lefebvre who sent the game to overtime with 23 seconds left to go in regulation.

In the extra frame, Langevin came up big with four more saves before Luca Nappiot sent the Océanic home with a shocking victory.

Top 2026 NHL draft eligible led the way with nine shots on goal for the Armada, while Carbonneau had eight and Vincent Collard had seven. Those three combined for more shots than the entire Rimouski side on the night.

But, in the end, Langevin stood tallest. While the 19-year-old has been reduced to more of a backup role this year, struggling with just a 3-7-0 record and .891 save percentage after Friday's win, this could give him a needed confidence boost and give Rimouski more quality starts when William Lacelle isn't in goal.
