It was thrilling Game 3 in the WHL as the Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Portland Winterhawks 4-3 in overtime to take a 3-0 series lead. Brayden Schuurman was the hero on the night, scoring 2:20 into overtime and sending the fans at the Moose Jaw Events Centre into a frenzy. The overtime winner was Schuurman's first career game-winning goal in the postseason and seventh overall this year.
Game 3 featured plenty of memorable performances. Warriors captain Denton Mateychuk finished the night with two goals, while Winterhawks forward Marcus Nguyen had a goal and eight assists. It was also a strong night for both goaltenders, as Jackson Unger made 30 saves while Jan Špunar stopped 32 of 36 for Portland.
Moose Jaw will not have to wait long to try and wrap up the series, as Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night. If the Warriors can sweep the Winterhawks, there is a chance all three CHL Finals could end in sweeps. The Drummondville Voltigeurs swept the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL, while the London Knights are currently up 3-0 on the Oshawa Generals in the OHL. Puck drop for Game 4 is scheduled for 8:00 pm ST, where Moose Jaw will be looking to clinch a spot in the Memorial Cup for the first time in franchise history.
