Cayden Lindstrom was the first WHLer selected this year, going fourth overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The first round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft is over, with five WHLers hearing their names called through the first 32 picks. Three of the four divisions were represented, with the B.C. and Central Division each having two drafted players. In total, this year's first round featured 14 players selected from the CHL, which is an increase from the 11 chosen in 2023. Below are the results from the first round.
4th Overall:

6th Overall:
Tij Iginla, Kelowna Rockets – Utah Hockey Club
7th Overall:
Carter Yakemchuk, Calgary Hitmen – Ottawa Senators
8th Overall:
Berkly Catton, Spokane Chiefs – Seattle Kraken
17th Overall:
Terik Parascak, Prince George Cougars – Washington Capitals
The NHL Draft is scheduled to resume on Saturday, June 29, at 8:30 am P.T./ 9:30 am M.T. Rounds two through seven are expected to feature plenty of WHLers experiencing their dreams of being drafted into the NHL. The remaining rounds can be viewed on NHL Network, ESPN+ or Sportsnet.
