
Czechia captured Gold at this year's IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is complete, with hosts Czechia capturing the Gold. This year's Czechia roster featured four former WHLers who all played during their Gold Medal Game win over Switzerland. Here is a look at the four alums and a review of their careers at the WHL level.
Radko Gudas- Everett Silvertips
Before being drafted 66th overall in 2010, Radko Gudas played one season with the Everett Silvertips. During the 2009-10 campaign, the defender posted 37 points in 65 games. Despite only playing one year, he still sits fifth in franchise history for most penalty minutes in a season with 151, while his plus/minus of +45 is tied with Olen Zellweger for most by a player in a single campaign.
Matěj Stránský- Saskatoon Blades
Matěj Stránský had a memorable three seasons with the Saskatoon Blades organization. He played in Saskatoon from 2010-13 and recorded 192 points in 213 games. As for Stránský crowing moment, that would come in the 2013 Memorial Cup, where he scored twice against the Halifax Mooseheads and helped the Blades capture their only win of the tournament.
Tomas Kundratek- Medicine Hat Tigers
Tomas Kundratek was part of the Medicine Hat Tigers organization from 2008-10. During his two seasons, he recorded 58 points and 125 penalty minutes in 116 games. Kundratek also helped the Tigers win two series, collecting 12 points in 23 postseason games with Medicine Hat.
Libor Hájek- Saskatoon Blades/Regina Pats
Libor Hájek spent the majority of three seasons with the Blades before being dealt to the Regina Pats ahead of the 2018 Memorial Cup. Playing in 192 regular season games, Hájek had 91 points and 187 penalty minutes during his WHL career. As for the 2018 Memorial Cup, he had three points in five games, with his only goal standing as the winner in Regina's 6-5 round-robin victory over the Swift Current Broncos.
