Spokane Chiefs center Berly Catton became the fourth WHL player this season to surpass the 100-point plateau. The 2024 NHL Draft prospect hit the milestone in style thanks to a five-point night, which included a hat trick versus the Victoria Royals. A projected top-ten pick, Catton joins a long list of Chiefs who have hit the 100-point mark in a season, including Valeri Bure, Pat Falloon, Adam Beckman, Travis Green and Ray Whitney.
Catton has seen a significant increase in point production this season. He has almost doubled his 55-point performance from 2022-23 and, with 48 goals on the season, could register that 13th 50-goal season in franchise history. With his performance, he has vaulted into the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy conversation and should be a finalist for the CHL's Top Draft Prospect Award later on this year.
Catton's performance against the Royals was crucial as it helped Spokane in their quest for a playoff spot. Currently ranked eighth in the West with 58 points, they have now opened an 11-point advantage over the ninth-place Tri-City Americans. With eight games remaining on the schedule, it looks like the Chiefs will return to the playoffs after missing the postseason in 2022-23.
