On Friday, the Nashville Predators announced they had signed Everett Silvertips' forward, Austin Roest, to an entry-level contract. Roest was drafted by the Predators 175th overall in 2023 and is one of four current WHLers in Nashville's prospect system. The recently turned 20-year-old has 59 points in 54 games this season and is projected to turn pro in 2024-25.
Roest has had an exceptional career with the Silvertips. He was named co-captain at the beginning of the season and is on pace to surpass the 100-assist mark for his career. Currently sitting at 196 games played, he is also projected to become the 25th player in franchise history to play 200 games.
With the signing of Roest, the Predators have now locked up all three WHLers they drafted in 2023. The other two players are Tanner Molendyk, who was a first-round pick and Kalan Lind, who was drafted in the second round. Only Graham Sward, who was a fifth-round pick in 2022, remains unsigned but should receive a pro contract by the end of the season.
