The Washington Capitals prospect became the third WHLer to hit the 100-point mark this season.
Thanks to his phenomenal three-point performance against the Spokane Chiefs on Friday, Zac Funk became the third WHLer to hit 100 points this season. Funk hit the milestone hours after signing an entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals. He joins fellow Prince George Cougars forward Riley Heidt and Moose Jaw Warriors' Jagger Firkus as the only three players in the CHL to surpass the 100-point mark this season.
Funk is having a historic season with the Cougars. He has already established a new franchise record for goals in a season, with 59 and counting, and is one of four players to record a 100-point season while playing in Prince George. If he can continue his goal-scoring pace, he could join Connor Bedard and Jayden Halbgewachs as the only three players since 2000-01 to score 65 goals in a season.
With eight games remaining, Funk and his teammates will be focused on capturing the top seed in the Western Conference. With 86 points in 60 games, they have already claimed the B.C. Division title, but will want guaranteed home-ice advantage through to the WHL Final. While it won't be easy, as six of their last eight are against teams battling for playoff position, they have a good chance of finishing atop the Western Conference based on their play this season.
