Brad Marchand has denied Elliotte Friedman's report that he is close to a contract extension with the Bruins.

While on Sportsnet Saturday Headlines, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Boston Bruins and captain Brad Marchand are getting closer to a three-year contract extension.
Following the Bruins' matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Marchand denied Friedman's report. Here is what No. 63 said on the matter, as reported by Mass Live Sports:
"I'm not big about talking about contract stuff in the media, but that report from Elliotte is false. Elliotte is just wrong. That's about it."
Marchand, 36, is in the final season of his eight-year, $49 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the campaign.

Marchand has appeared in nine games this season with the Bruins, where he has one goal and five assists to go along with a minus-5 rating. In 1,037 career games as a Bruin over 16 seasons, he has 401 goals, 532 assists, and 933 points.
