The Boston Bruins fell to the Dallas Stars in their most recent matchup by a 5-2 final score. It was an ugly loss for the Original Six club, and a former Bruin was a significant reason behind it.
Former Bruins forward Tyler Seguin burned his old team in a big way in the contest, as he had a goal and two assists on the night. With this, he now has four goals, seven points, and a plus-7 rating in his first five games this season.
Tyler SeguinThe Seguin trade will always be remembered as one of the worst in the team's history. Former Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli dealt a then 21-year-old Seguin, forward Rich Peverley, and defenseman Ryan Button to the Stars for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow, and Matt Fraser.
Overall, this return was immensely underwhelming return for the Bruins, especially when noting that Seguin emerged as a star talent in Dallas. In 771 games as a Star over 12 seasons, he has 299 goals and 674 points. None of the players the Bruins landed in the Seguin deal made anywhere close to the impact the 2010 second-overall pick has in Dallas. Eriksson and Smith had decent moments but did not last long in Boston. Meanwhile, Morrow and Fraser never became impactful players.
Tyler SeguinNevertheless, this trade just always seems to find a way to haunt the Bruins in a new way. This is especially so when noting that the Bruins could use another top-six forward right now.
