Former Boston Bruins goalie Malcolm Subban has been released from his professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Subban signed a PTO with the Griffins earlier this month after not landing a deal for the season through free agency. Now, his time with the Griffins did not result in him landing a contract, and he will look for work elsewhere.

Subban made one appearance with the Columbus Blue Jackets this past season, saving 32 out of 35 shots in a loss. He spent the rest of the year down in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he had an 11-17-4 record, a .901 save percentage (SV%), and a 3.12 goals-against average (GAA) split between the Springfield Thunderbirds and Cleveland Monsters.

Subban was selected by the Bruins with the 24th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In two games with the Bruins, he had a 0-2-0 record, a 5.82 GAA, and a .727 SV%.
