One under-the-radar prospect who should not be overlooked is forward Dans Locmelis.
Locmelis, 20, was selected by the Bruins with the 119th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot center played in his first NCAA season with UMass this past campaign, posting seven goals and 14 points in 30 games. Overall, it was a decent first collegiate season for the young forward.
However, Locmelis is now off to a dominant start with UMass this season, as he has five assists and a plus-5 rating in five games. Overall, it appears that he has taken a notable step forward in his development. Due to this, the Jelgava, Latvia native is a prospect who needs to be watched incredibly closely from here.
It will now be fascinating to see how Locmelis builds on his strong start. If he maintains it, his ranking in the Bruins' prospect pool will certainly go up.
