Before the start of the 2023-24 season, the Boston Bruins made a tough decision, placing A.J. Greer on waivers. Unfortunately for Boston, the gritty winger was claimed by the Calgary Flames, where he has spent the entirety of this season.
Seeing Greer go was tough, as the Quebec native emerged as an effective fourth-line forward for the Bruins last season. He provided some toughness and a bit of offense in a bottom-six role, and now, he has done the same for the Flames this season.

Greer, 27, has fit in nicely on the Flames. He has a career-high six goals and has tied his career-high of 12 points this season. He also has been quite impactful with his physicality, posting 99 hits on the year. This is where he has made his most significant impact with the Flames.
With Greer quietly having a solid season with the Flames, there's a chance he will get re-signed by the club this offseason. Because of his work ethic and tenacity, he has been a nice addition to their bottom six, so it would not be too shocking if he landed a short-term deal from Calgary. However, if he hits the market, there should be a decent chunk of interest in him around the league.
