Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras is another step closer to returning.

The Hockey News Big Show - Jeremy Swayman Contract

Over the last few days, Matthew Poitras has been dealing with an undisclosed injury. Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery shared with reporters last week that the skilled forward is labeled as day-to-day. While this is the case, it appears that he is inching closer to a potential return.

Poitras participated in Bruins team practice today (Oct. 7) in a non-contact jersey.

While Poitras was not a full participant at the Bruins' latest practice, it is still very encouraging to see him back on the ice in a non-contact jersey. It shows that the 2022 second-round pick is making progress with his injury recovery. Now, the hope from here is that he will continue to head in the right direction and be fully healthy soon.

While Poitras returned to the ice today, he has been ruled out for the club's season opener against the Panthers.

Poitras is a big-time breakout candidate for the Bruins heading into the 2024-25 season. The 20-year-old forward showed promise last season with the Original Six club, posting five goals and 15 points in 33 games.
