The Boston Bruins played their final pre-season game on Saturday (Oct. 5). For the matchup, the Bruins called up an array of players from their American Hockey League (AHL) squad. The most notable was top prospect Fabian Lysell, as it gave him another opportunity to try to show the Bruins that he warranted a spot on their opening night roster.

However, after briefly returning to the NHL roster, Lysell has once again been sent down to Providence. With this, the 2021 first-round pick will not be on Boston's roster for their season-opener against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

Lysell will now look to have a hot start with Providence from here. When looking at Providence's roster, there is no question that Lysell is expected to be one of their top offensive contributors. This is especially so when noting that he had 15 goals and 50 points in 56 games for the AHL squad last season.

Although Lysell did not make the Bruins' opening-night roster, it seems incredibly likely that he will get at least some reps with Boston this campaign. It will be interesting to see what kind of season he has from here.
